TCI Certificates in Trauma Therapy

Two Certificate Tracks are available for the next grant cycle:

Basic Trauma Therapy Certificate and Intermediate Trauma Therapy Certificate

TCI Staff will be reviewing the applications that were submitted and contacting applicants in the upcoming weeks.

Participation Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Master’s Degree in a Mental Health discipline

  • Current Professional Licensure and/or Certification, including (but not limited to): LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LMSW, Certified School Counselors, LPC Intern, and LMFT-A

  • Actively seeing clients

Certificate Requirements: Participants must attend the following TCI trainings over a 9 month time frame (October 2020 - July 2021):

  • Trauma-Informed Care Training (webinar)

  • Neurobiology Training (webinar)

  • Trauma and Resilience 101 Training (webinar)

  • Compassion Fatigue and Vicarious Trauma (in person)

  • Culturally Competent Trauma Practice (webinar)

  • Ethical Considerations in Trauma Treatment for Mental Health Professionals and Clients (webinar)

  • Developmental Trauma and the Family (in person)

  • Crisis interventions (in person)

  • Trauma and the Body (webinar)

  • Trust Based Relational Intervention (in person)

  • Animal Assisted Therapy (webinar)

  • Evidenced-Based Techniques and Interventions (in person)

  • Must submit a case review and presentation highlighting the use of learned material by the end of the certificate period (July 2021) – If accepted into the certificate program, you will be sent the case review template to complete. 

 

PLEASE NOTE: We are able to accept a limited number of people into the program. Therefore, we ask that you commit to meeting all requirements in the given time frame if you submit an application for consideration.

Participation Requirements:

  • Prior basic trauma training

  • Actively seeing clients

 

Certificate Requirements: Participants must attend the following trainings over a 9 month time frame (October 2020 - July 2021)

  • Working with Couples and Trauma (webinar)

  • Culturally Competent Trauma Practice (webinar)

  • DID and Dissociation (in person)

  • Play Therapy and Trauma (webinar)

  • Working with Survivors of Sexual Assault (in person)

  • Creative/Artistic expression in working with Trauma (in person)

  • Trauma and Addiction (webinar)

  • Working with Military (webinar)

  • Immigration and Refugees (in person)

  • Sex Trafficking (in person)

  • Intimate Partner Violence (webinar)

  • Family of Origin related Trauma (webinar)

  • Must attend at least two TCI case consultations

BOTH CERTIFICATES

54 Hour Program

 

  • Hours for this certificate must be completed in-person or via TCI webinar

  • Please note the in-person trainings take place during normal business hours Monday - Friday

 

Note: We are continuing to monitor COVID-19 and the recommendations for holding in-person events. Priority is, and will be, given to everyone's health and safety. Therefore, if we are not able to hold some (or all) of the trainings listed as "in person" in the requirements above, we will host them via live webinar.

  • Hours must be completed by July 31, 2021

  • For individuals in our current Trauma Therapy Certificate Program, please be aware that if you apply (and are accepted) into one of the new Certificate Programs, your hours will not roll-over. All hours must be completed in the new grant cycle (October 2020 - July 2021). 

  • Cost: Thanks to generous funding from the Texas Office of the Governor and Victims of Crime Act funds, Trauma Care Institute Certificate courses are offered free of charge.

TRAINERS BUREAU

Upon successful completion of this certificate program, each trauma therapist may apply for consideration to be  accepted into the Trauma Care Institute Trainers Bureau.
