About the Event

Myths and Realities of Same Sex IPV

3 CE Credits will be offered for LPC, LMFT, SW, and Psychologists

Presented by: Leslie McMurray from Resource Center

Date: February 24th, 2022

Time: 9am - 12pm CST

Location: Webinar Via Zoom

Cost: Free (This training is supported by Award No. 3012704 by the Texas Office of the Governor and Violence Against Women Act Fund.)

The foundation for any new education is language. Understanding the terms used by the LGBTQIA+ Community prevents that “walking on eggshells” feeling that we all want to avoid. We will also dive into some of the myths associated with same sex IPV and the laws that, in some cases, protect and, in others, leave vulnerable an often marginalized population. We will also include some calls to action to put into use the things learned in the training.

Learning Objectives:

  • Provide basic terminology associated with the LGBTQIA+ community
  • Explore the steps associated with the coming-out process
  • Give a foundation for cultural competency on LGBTQIA+ issues
  • Look at some of the myths associated with same sex partner domestic violence.

If you register for this training, you must attend for the entire training.

*Partial CEs will not be provided.*

Leaving the training early will count as a late cancellation/no show.

In the event of an emergency situation that causes you to be late or miss the training, email training@tssnt.org.
