Intimate partner violence and sexual assault can be some of the most dangerous and devastating calls to which law enforcement officers respond. Misidentifying the primary aggressor in same sex or gender non-conforming relationships continues to be a problem for LGBTQ+ victims as well as officers responding to these cases. This training will:

  • Outline Department of Justice guidance on gender bias in law enforcement
  • Describe techniques for identifying the primary aggressor in LGBTQ+ intimate partner violence cases
  • Identify trauma-informed responses to LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Recognize how gender stereotypes and bias may negatively influence law enforcement response to LGBTQ+ sexual and intimate partner violence cases.
  • Learn techniques for identifying the primary aggressor in LGBTQ+ intimate partner violence cases.
  • Learn trauma-informed ways to respond to LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence

If you register for this training, you must attend for the entire training.

*Partial CEs will not be provided.*

Leaving the training early will count as a No Show.
