Description:

For clinicians, the task of walking with victims and survivors to reach those depths of trauma to achieve healing is enormous and requires a special set of skills. This workshop is designed to demonstrate how mental health clinicians can integrate a multitude of approaches that weave together body, mind, and emotion-focused therapy, to include an integrative 7-step approach. The presenter will provide an overview of how to assess, conceptualize, create treatment plans, and offer best practices for trauma therapy for clients as well as emphasize the importance of self-regulation, both inside and outside of therapy sessions. Additionally, the presenter will discuss research on the polyvagal theory, somatic concerns, dissociation, EMDR, TF-CBT, DBT, and the gut-brain connection, and provide intervention strategies to effectively treat complex trauma.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will feel more confident in being able to assess and conceptualize clients in order to help inform the direction of treatment.
  • Participants will better understand dissociation, mood dysregulation, and ways to engage the client's nervous system to aid in healing.
  • Participants will walk away with tangible resources to aid in treating trauma in children, adolescents, and adults in an integrative and trauma informed way.
