Date: May 24th, 2024

Time: 9:30 am - 11 am CDT

Helping professionals face unique challenges in maintaining personal well-being and mental health when supporting clients dealing with trauma. This presentation delves into the neurophysiology and regulation of arousal, effective support techniques, and how these approaches can mitigate burnout and compassion fatigue. Participants will gain a better understanding of the neurological processes involved when working with clients recounting traumatic experiences and their impacts. The presentation emphasizes the ethical imperative of self-care practices for those in direct service roles. Attendees will start creating personalized plans to protect their own well-being while providing compassionate care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand neurophysiology involved in empathetic engagement with trauma survivors, and associated methods of arousal regulation.
  • Recognize the impact of ineffective helping behaviors (e.g. countertransference excessive empathy, and emotional contagion) to clients and clinicians.
  • Identify strategies of maintaining balance and utilization of effective helping into professional practices.
  • Develop a burnout management plan.

If you register for this training, you must attend for the entire training.

*Partial CEs will not be provided.*

Leaving the training early will count as a No Show.
