Cancellation and Refund Policy: The general policy is that refunds will not be offered to participants. However, if a participant presents with extenuating circumstances, it will be at the discretion of Melissa Harrison and Trauma Support Services whether to offer a refund or a spot at the next available training.
This training introduces the foundational concepts of Polyvagal Theory and explores how an understanding of the nervous system can enhance trauma-informed work with survivors. Participants will learn practical tools and interventions to support regulation, resilience, and connection, both for clients and themselves. This session emphasizes real-world application and accessible strategies to promote safety and healing.
Learning Objectives:
Explain the basic principles of Polyvagal Theory and its relevance to trauma work.
Identify signs of nervous system dysregulation in clients and themselves.
Apply concrete, Polyvagal-informed interventions to support client regulation.
Utilize regulating resources and practices to foster safety and connection.
About Our Speaker:
Melissa Harrison is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and the Clinical Director at the Irving Family Advocacy Center. Melissa is a supervisor, therapist, international speaker, consultant, and mentor to therapists across the country. She has specialized in child abuse and complex trauma for the past 15 years, and believes strongly in the power of educating professionals about how to provide trauma informed care. Melissa is certified in EMDR and is an EMDRIA approved Consultant in Training. She is trained in TF-CBT, Polyvagal Theory, somatic interventions, play therapy, and works to integrate a holistic approach into all sessions and in the way that she leads her interns and staff.
